Clayton has been an academic advisor at UGA since 1999, and joined the Division of Biological Sciences in 2016. She spent 13 years working with lower division Bio science, Pre-Journalism, and Pre-Business majors, then spent four years working with Juniors, Seniors, and graduate students in Early Childhood Education. She has extensive knowledge of UGA policies and procedures and enjoys talking to students about goals and strategies to achieve them.
Her academic background is in English (AB, UGA) and English Education (MEd, UGA), though she has spent her career working with students in all different kinds of fields. Her awards include the Franklin College Advisor of the Year, the campus-wide Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advisor Award, and a NACADA certificate of merit for Outstanding Advising. She has served on numerous department and college committees and presented at multiple advising conferences.
Clayton is originally from Atlanta but has called Athens home almost since coming here for her undergraduate degree. She and her husband lived briefly in St. Andrews, Scotland, where he received his Master’s degree, before returning to full-time residence.
